With only four days left until we head on out, this is getting real. . . real awesome!

Check out the box of goodies that just arrived!  We had a major score thanks to David Anderson and Mike Quiroz.  Thanks guys!  Now we have four days to teach Matt how to use a camera, so be prepared for hours of close up footage of him squinting and asking if this is recording.  

Worried About Speeding Tickets?

As if we’re not a big enough ticket magnet already, the car was dropped off today at Sticker City in Van Nuys for a few cosmetic upgrades.

Gary is the only one who knows exactly what it will look like, but here’s an artist’s rendition of what we assume Gary went for. When we get it back on Friday it may look a little different than the picture.

Wild Card Update

A little behind schedule thanks to a suspension problem, Rob is expected to pull into town tonight.  We are looking forward to making fun of him when we see him in a Smart Car.  That’s right, he drove across the country in a Smart Car.  And he’s keeping us entertained as he’s doing it.  We’ll post his videos to our youtube channel soon, so you can all enjoy them.

A Close Call

When we were screwing around in the desert, we pushed the car to its limits.  Well, actually, we pushed one part of the car past its limits and the power steering pump stopped working for a little while.  When the dealership called to tell us that it might need replacing, and it would be ready next week, just a bit of panic set in.

Luckily, it turns out the pump is not broken and the car is ready to go.  (Rest assured that our Mechanic knew it all along.) And to the Crew members who may just be learning about this now, good news guys, we’re still going!

Another Major Score

Yesterday we received a box of awesome camera equipment, and today we got a little package from our newest sponsor.  Who are they? Oh, just a little restaurant chain called California Pizza Kitchen!  

A big box of CPK “Pizza Dough” (think Monopoly money, but better because it actually buys food) means we won’t be stuck eating roadkill or gas station hot dogs . . . unless we want to.

It’s. . . THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! 

Yes, we are less than a week out from departure date, and we are getting very excited. The final preparations are now being made and over the next five days we’ll be stocking up on toilet paper and beef jerky, and sending out a little, daily update to you as a thank you for your support.

Remember when we took the car out to the desert? Well, we got yelled at by a park ranger, broke important parts of the car’s steering system, let a dog drive a truck, and got some pretty awesome video of it all.
